This past weekend I took advantage of my mom being in town and went to my local Gap to pick up a few fall pieces. (Disclosure: my mom works for Gap and has an amazing employee discount!) I got some great new clothes all in varying shades of blue, which apparently is my latest obsession! Amongst the things I purchased were this comfortable and stylish shift dress and this polka dot oxford.
Sunday I wore the dress with some gold loafers and a gold necklace. I was fairly happy with the overall look, but when I finally got around to looking through this month’s Style Guide from J. Crew I discovered a look I quickly wanted to make my own.
Fortunately, my newest wardrobe acquisitions are the perfect pieces to do just that!
This look easily works for both work and play. If your work environment is a tad more serious then switch out the polka dot oxford for a plain blue shirt, ditch the bow tie for a gold chain, and opt for a more sensible shoe. Once the work day is done you can quickly change out the accessories and shoes to go from working girl chic to fashionable girl about town!
Where do you find outfit inspiration? My sources are countless, but one of my all time favorites is J.Crew’s Style Guide. To be sure, J.Crew has some amazing pieces, but it’s the quirky styling of those pieces that gets me every time.
