Banana Republic teams up with Trina Turk, Gilt

0 Comments 30 May 2012

Banana Republic has had a bit of an identity crisis as of late. What was once my most trusted brand — I never even tried anything on, because I knew just how it would fit — has faltered with a few consecutive lackluster seasons.

But the label keeps trying, and I keep hoping it will once again become part of my regular rotation. BR seems to work best lately when it’s launching some sort of special collection. The two Mad Men collections were fun, and now it’s launching a special collection in collaboration with Trina Turk. I am a fan of Trina Turk’s flirty and feminine line, but find it to be mostly out of my price range. So I’m excited at the prospect of picking up some pieces at a more affordable price. And by the looks of the marketing materials I’ve seen, both sent to my home and online, there are more than a few things to love. The bright patterns are perfect for summer, and the jewelry will add punch to any outfit (see the full collection here).

The collection goes on sale in stores and online June 7, but Banana Republic is first launching it on Gilt starting today at 9 a.m. PST (it had a similar strategy for the Mad Men collection). Items will be full-price, but it will give the most enthusiastic fans an opportunity to pick up some pieces a week before the launch. I would check it out, as my experience has been certain sizes tend to run out pretty quickly with these special collections.
