I first spotted these pants at Loft about a month ago when working with a client. As she was looking to add some variety and fun to her wardrobe I suggested she try these pants. At 5’8″ they looked amazing on her; her long legs carried the length of the pants well and the fun print made her smile. She purchased the pants that day (and this shirt to go with them!); thus, accomplishing our goal of adding some pieces to her wardrobe that pushed her a tad outside her current closet comfort zone. But that is not where the story of these magical pants ends…
I literally thought about these pants non-stop for a few weeks before I had a chance to stop in my local Loft to try them on. I walked away that day still torn about whether or not my 5’5″ frame could pull off both a bold print and a wide leg. Over the next two days, I compulsively analyzed the photos I had taken and set about looking for shirts in my closet, and at stores, to make sure they wouldn’t be just a one note addition to my wardrobe. Having passed my own rule of thumb (if you aren’t sure about an item and are still thinking about it a day or two later it’s meant to be!), I returned to Loft and scooped up these pants and shirt at an additional 40% off the sale price.
They have more than lived up to the hype I built in my head! The very first time I wore them I was stopped by several women who admired them and wanted to know where to purchase them, which is always a sign you’ve done something right. Furthermore, I wore them while shopping Loft’s recent 50% off event and was complimented by the store’s manager who noted that the pants had proven hard to sell as many women were afraid of such a bold print or didn’t know what to pair them with.
I totally get that some might look at these pants and think them straight out of crazy town, which, to be honest with you, is part of what I love about them. I have never been one to shy away from bold prints or quirky clothing statements, but I also think someone less daring could just as easily pull these off by pairing them with a neutral colored top or sticking to a monochromatic look with a blue top with very understated accessories.
